'(7 Mar 2022) STELLA MCCARTNEY OFFERS ESCAPISM WITH FALL/WINTER 2022 SHOW IN PARIS, PROMISES \'OUR HEARTS AND OUR MINDS ARE CONSTANTLY WITH THE PEOPLE OF UKRAINE\' \"We don\'t want war.\" John F Kennedy\'s famous 1963 Commencement speech resonated through the corridors of Paris Pompidou Centre as guests reached the museum of modern art\'s top floor for Stella McCartney\'s show, Monday (7 MARCH 2022).  On the runway, the mood was festive and leaned towards the 1970s, with the color purple a strong favorite.   Inspired by the work of American painter and sculptor Frank Stella, McCartney went from minimalism with oversized pinstripes blazers, to maximalism with artwork pieces laid on fluid dresses.  Continuing the label\'s drive for sustainability, the collection introduced two new green fabrics. Outfits in velvet are made using sustainable wood pulp from Sweden, while handbags are created from skins of Italian grapes used in wine production.  \"It\'s a grape leather so it\'s using all of the waste from wine and taking the grape skins and making a grape leather. So I was saying: all of the wine that you drank in lockdown is now a handbag on a Stella McCartney runway show,\" smiled the designer. The show concluded to the sound of John Lennon\'s \"Give Peace a Chance.\"  Backstage, McCartney shared it had been \"awful\" for her to watch the news about Ukraine and still have to work.  \"Creation brings hope and it brings light and it can bring escapism. And I think those are very valuable things in times like this too. I mean, even just walking around the Pompidou now, can take you away for a moment, you know.
