Always surrounded by his creativity, his interest in the field of Arts and Design started at a very young age. His fall winter 2016 collection was largely about subversion of form, or by the same token, the subversion of formalised ideas around what we expect in fashion – i.e squares or lines represent structure, while formal is smart, or even the very idea of expecting the unexpected at fashion week, etc. Amos Tranque used this collection to reimagine the imagination. Many looks fell out of the ordinary silhouette for menswear in colours grey, black, white, and blue. Co-ordinated down to the sneaker, the looks were open and boxy. Deconstructing the perception of street style, Amos Tranque made use of synthetic materials like vinyl and caribou as the pieces blurred gender constructions. Toying with the lines of what is conventional, Amos Tranque’s collection was sharp with a side order of couture. Of course the digital printing and use of geometrics really served the collection, but most effectively, it was the placement of the lines on the body.
