'20$ Chelsea boot vs $200 Chelsea boot. What is the difference besides pricing? Well in this video I’m going to breakdown the key differences and tell you what we are sacrificing when it comes to quality. So I’ve purchased a lot of terrible quality shoes through out my years and when you are young and on a budget. Quality is something we tend to overlook. Just by looking at the shoes side by side, they look like the same style boot. They’ll get the job done in terms of achieving a certain look to your outfit but even the budget conscious should be aware what makes a quality shoe rather than depending on price alone. Here\'s a great example: So not too long ago, Payless did an experiment of completely rebranding their store to make it seem like a high fashion designer shoe company and invited a bunch of influencers to check out the shoes that have been marked up to $600. It goes to show what a little marketing can do to make you believe that you are purchasing a quality product I mean just look at mvmt watches. I wont go to into depth about this just for the sake of time for this video but noting these key difference will help you choose better shoes while you are out shopping. So lets start off with the upper materials. Now for the 20$ Chelsea boot, you can’t expect much here because the whole upper is made out of faux suede aka polyester. To the trained eye, it’s very easy to tell which shoe is made out of faux suede here because this material has a very high sheen to it where as, genuine suede does not. And one of the biggest cons of wearing faux suede shoes is that it has no breathability . Which leads me to the $200 Chelsea boot. This boot is made out of real Spanish suede. Very soft and overtime the fibers aka the nap will rise and give it some texture the more you wear it. Now im sure you’ve noticed the shape of this boot and that’s the next thing we going to look at, is the lining. The lining for the 20$ shoe is nothing but a cheap synthetic fabric that does not do a good job at keeping it’s shape. Even the insole is made out of the same fabric and yea if you were to wear these a couple of hours, your feet will probably be drenched in sweat. Looking at the 200$ Chelsea boot, you can see it has a sturdy leather lining stitched, as well as having a leather insole and this is going to make the inner more durable and odor-resistant. You can do a quick test while you are out shopping by simply feeling all over the leather on the inside and if it’s smooth and flat, then you got yourself a properly made shoe. Next up, is the construction. Most lower pairs like this one use glued soles.
