'Bridal Fashion Week kicks off in Lahore'

'(30 Sep 2016) BRIDAL FASHION WEEK KICKS OFF IN LAHORE The Pakistan Fashion Design Council\'s annual Bridal Fashion Week kicked off in Lahore Thursday (29 SEPT. 2016). Renowned designers such as Kamiar Rokni and Hassan Sheheryar Yasin were among those to showcase their creations on the opening day. For Rokni, who spent months preparing for the event, presenting a collection on the first day has its perks. \"I\'m relieved and excited that our collection \'Heritage\' is presented and done with. It was a fabulous night, a great moment,\" he smiled. \"What we aimed to do was show traditional Pakistani style on the catwalk and I think we succeeded. The response has been great, so my team and I very happy.\" Titled \"Heritage 2016,\" the collection stayed true to The House of Kamiar Rokni\'s love for craft, tradition and the timeless classic beauty associated with Pakistani wedding wear.  Like Rokni, Hassan Sheheryar Yasin also presented a traditional bridal collection, but with unique touches. \"HSY (Hassan Sheheryar Yasin) was fabulous, remarkable because of his costumes and all his directions and something unique that he always creates in his show - the unique theme, the unique passion that he creates and motivates a lot,\" said fashion journalist Taranjeet Singh. However, Pakistan\'s Bridal Fashion Week isn\'t just about established designers - there\'s a Rising Talent segment too. Among those to feature in that category was newcomer Amna Naeem, who presented her collection titled \"Bourgeois Mistress de Haute Naissance.\" \"My collation is inspired by Madame Pompadour, who is a French mistress and it\'s amalgamated with Marilyn Monroe in the 1950s,\" she explained. \"So I tried to bring a lot of feminine influences into my clothes and there are lot of textile detail in it - all of these hand made textures are in there and the silk works are really elaborated.\" Naeem\'s collection was dominated by different tones of the color Pink, as it was Madame Pompadour who introduced the trend of \'Pompadour Pink\' to the French court.  Bustiers, draped ruffles, full skirts, sheer jackets and belts also featured.
