But Imelda Marcos is perhaps best remembered for her extensive shoe collection. The widow of deposed dictator Ferdinand Marcos has announced plans for her very own fashion line. SOT: Imelda Marcos, former First Lady of Philippines: \"One day my grandson came to me and said, Mama Meldy I would like to use your collection to tell the world the real Imelda, who is Imelda.\" Marcos became notorious for her shopping trips to ritzy New York shops while her country wallowed in poverty under martial law declared by her husband. She also collected thousands of pairs of pumps and stilettos. The line will be called \'The Imelda Collection\' and will feature fashion jewelry and accessories. It\'s due to hit the stories November 18th. Her daughter says the line won\'t yet - include footwear.
