My eyes like everyone else have always been the key windows to helping me do my job efficiently . From draping , sewing , cutting and paying attention to every detail on a style or the quality of a garment. I have worn many hatstand my career such as fashion & tech designer, graphic printing business and brand image development consultant. Ive also tapped into hairstyling, hair blogging and a published hair model. In addition, to my creative career and entrepreneurial journey, I’ve also landed a federal job which gave me the stability I needed to take care of my son, and home. My job also caters to the needs to people with reasonable accommodations. Through believing , and praying for my healing . I realized I’m living life currently through a different lens.I have #type1diabetes #T1D , since the age of 10. At age 33 , I learned I had developed #DiabeticRetinopathy. Not being able to use my eyes the way I’ve. Always have , was the most #challenging. Now at 35 , In the last 2 years I’ve had 4 #eyesurgeries , 2 #cataracts ,2 #vitrectomy , and left with 2 #oilbubbles to hold my #retina in place. I have #lowvision in one eye and considered #blind in the other. I have so much #faith in my healing . I have seen #miracles through this journey. I’m choosing to @_liveinspiteof_ . I signed up with agencies such as @nys.ocfs #Commisionfortheblind and @visionsvcb. I was able to get trained on how to navigate and adjust to my new life . I was set with so many options which allowed me never to give up. #Assistivetechnology , like @optelecus , are the best things that happened to me . My eyes use to burn and suffer from pain and #eyefatigue. Mainly From daily functions such as reading the #mail or any #paperwork . Even after I received my 1st device , I learned that there were other devices that could help such as the #travelHd .Im happy to #liveinspiteof because if I ever stop, I will never be starting. Fashion bio : Terrie Williams has practiced her artistic discipline in the field of fashion since 1999. Ms. Willians held a variety of professional positions and educational credentials in the field of fashion. She held a variety of positions from Technical designer, Fashion designer, and Assistant Buyer. presently , she is active in fashion, by creating her own clothing line and consulting with contemporary clothing lines that need assistance in production development and printing She started her experience at home from the age five when she was introduced to fashion through her Barbie design kit. Although, her family noticed her talent, it wasn\'t until she entered the High School of Fashion Industries’03 and received her first job through her mother\'s co-worker designing costumes for a community, dog play for Carmen. After that, Terrie continued with her learning at the High School of Fashion Industries. In her senior year, before entering Fashion Institute of Technology ‘08 for Patternmaking Technology. Ms. Williams applied to work for Rocawear , and by faith was place to work in the executive office of Damon Dash . Ms. Williams was networking in every opportunity. She was chosen to model on a show to be aired on Black Entertainment Television (BET) called “Get Fresh With The Roc”;. After her first year, she moved downstairs to the fashion and technical design department. While at Rocawear, Terrie later split her schedule in half going to Dr. Jays.Com to intern as an Asst. Buyer in the mornings and Rocawear later in the day. After Rocawear, Terrie continued to work for other start up and private labels to gain more industry experience while in school . She also took extra classes outside her degree to expose her self to every part of the industry. She then moved on to popular companies such as House Of Dereon / Dereon ,Akademics Women ,Stylesight.Com , Jones New York and Topsville. After having becoming a full-time mother to her son, she chose to stay in school, work as a freelance Asst. Tech Designer for Sears /Kmart and later at Polo Ralph Lauren Childrenswear as an Associate Technical Designer . Today she continues to work on her dream of becoming a business woman and designer.'See also:
