'Forms and conventions span generations, but they begin with the personal experience of the individual. What happened at the beginning of the 20th century to inspire the connections between artists such as Jean Cocteau, Diaghilev and Nijinsky? Elsa Schiaparelli and Dalí? From the blurring of boundaries between art, fashion, and performance from Ballet Russes to Yves Klein’s paintings and use of live models, these artists and those that followed have created a new form and re-shaped the way we understand – and experience - the fine arts, fashion, and performance. Our panelists explore the theatrical shows and art collaborations of Mugler, Viktor and Rolf, Comme des Garcons and Merce Cunningham, and many others.
