'Alexander Wang Spring / Summer 2012 Women\'s Ready-To-Wear Collection by Alexander Wang. Alexander Wang\'s Spring 2012 collection is dominated by all manner of modern technical sportswear influenced by skate boarding, motorcross and NASCAR racing, complete with matching protective head gear. Wang helped set the stage for his show with giant reflective wall cubes, reminiscent of a house of mirrors. Designed to distort reality with the models appearing and disappearing into an alternate universe governed by aggressive sports divas (dangerous sports) and heightened by the insistent techno beat. Like fleeting apparitions, the models, bound in techno athletic sportswear disappeared and reappeared in the mirrors. Mastering his \"surrealistic approach to fabric manipulation\" Wang contrasted fabrics like black mesh over tangerine, teal, violet and white polo jerseys to create a controlled look that resembled newfangled racing suits. The fabrics included patent leather, waxed suede, leather, jersey, perforated taffeta and \"shrink-wrapped\" knits. Wang continued on a precision cut path with each look. His sporty and utilitarian silk printed parachute dresses and separates with zippered fronts and oversize cargo pockets radiating a hot, sexy urbanity. While his leather outerwear resembled a uniform, it is sure to be popular among his throng of 20 something fans. Not to be outdone by the outerwear were the accessories. Crossbody golf bag-sized weekenders (backpacks) and oversized matching floral print BMX helmets were enviable, as were his high heeled sneakers. Combining floral prints and jersey on techno-fabric tanks with matching skinny leggings, the layering and contrasts never stopped as Wang made way for geometrically-engineered intarsia knit sweaters and leggings color-blocked in burgundy, ochre, and white highlighting Wang\'s motif of dangerous sports to exaggerate a polished warrior look with his Inca body-con tracksuits. Wang then sent out \"lacquered\" perforated jackets over long walking shorts in navy and maroon patent leather that functioned as a continuation of his sports influenced theme. For the finale, his final section featured sheer jerseys inset with leather seeding charts and collaged on T-shirt dresses worn over swim suits, had a sophistication and a sense of modernity.
