'Making Old Fashioned Peanut Butter Fudge'

'Making easy home made peanut butter fudge with a recipe handed down from my mother.    3 Cups sugar 1 Stick butter or margarine 1 Cup evaporated milk (I sometimes use skim milk, not as rich) 1 Cup peanut butter 1 teaspoon vanilla  Mix sugar, butter and cream.  Cook until comes to a hard boil and then continue cooking for 7 minutes.  When you see it pulling away from the sides, do the spoon test I demonstrated.  When it forms a soft ball, it is ready.  You may not need to cook the full 7 minutes.  Mine was actually overcooked and was crumbly.   Next remove from heat and add peanut butter and vanilla.  At this point you can add nuts if you want.
