'Becoming Chanel didn\'t happen overnight. And neither did the evolution of her hats, pants, jersey sports wear, perfumes, handbags, or tweed and wool suits. This custom journal is a collection of antique and vintage French fabrics (including an antique beaded trim likely from a Cabaret dress in the early 1900s) and specially procured antique French magazine pages, vintage British ledger pages, and Vogue Covers book pages original to the altered book. The book cover and spine were extended with wool boucle and adorned with vintage French buttons. Authentic ephemera and photographs were collected over time from France, Italy, and friends in the US to help tell the story of Gabrielle Chanel\'s style and influence on lady\'s fashions through the decades.
