'Margaret\'s Viking Cruise Adventure for Sixty and Me (Part 2: Italy, Turkey, Greece) My Viking cruise adventure continues! Video Part One covered my experience and walkthrough of the Viking Star. This Video Part Two shares the places that I visited on my Viking Ocean cruise called Journey to Antiquities. We started the cruise in Rome and had to stay overnight in port because of the high seas. The captain decided it was not safe to proceed to Naples. So, we went straight to Sicily. Some guests went to Messina but I visited Taormina which is a medieval town in the mountains. The sea had calmed down dramatically and the view of Mt Etna was spectacular!! Then on to Crete, Greece, and the busy metropolitan town of Chania. The history of this region and the impact on Western Civilization was dramatic! I visited a beautiful monastery called Holy Trinity. The next day we visited Kusadasi and the ancient city of Ephesus. I spent some time by the beach, buying Turkish Delight and enjoying a balmy summer day. Finally, the video takes you to Athens where we ended the cruise. The experience with Viking was amazing. Incredible itinerary, fabulous staff, and the onboard experience was lovely. There were so many wonderful places to rest and relax! I hope you enjoy this exploration of the Viking Star shore excursions on the fascinating Journey to Antiquities! There were so many women over 60 on the cruise. A couple recognized me with was so much fun! These beautiful older women were traveling alone, with partners, friends, and family. It was so incredible to meet women dealing with mobility issues, personal loss, and enjoying their passion for travel and cruising. For the past 5 days, I have been traveling on a Viking ocean cruise from Rome to Athens. It is called Journey to Antiquities and we will visit some of the most beautiful and historic sites in Italy, Greece, and Turkey. So far it has been an amazing adventure - from high seas that prevented us from leaving Rome to calm placid ocean from Messina, Sicily to Crete.
