Blossom-printed polyester, a “shower curtain” fabric, as Lak described it, jokingly, was cut on the bias into a sleek yet relaxed pencil dress with a twisted opening under the bust.   The twisting, Lak noted, is a couture technique, and that gesture exemplified the design strategy at work here: take some low elements and mix them with haute ones applied with a light touch.   That same logic was apparent in Lak’s washed gazar cargo skirt with painterly embroidery, in his jean jackets made from a cotton-nylon blend woven in the same way as denim, in his sweatshirt-like tops blossoming asymmetrical ruffles, and in his natty tailored overcoat and cropped pants in a nightclub scene jacquard.   And so on and on.   Lak covered quite a bit of ground here, but what yoked the collection together was the way all these immaculate looks communicated a sense of ease.   That’s a tone familiar to fans of Dries Van Noten, the designer for whom Lak previously worked, but Lak put his own youthful, colorful spin on the vibe.
